How to tell us about material on Cyber Range Compare that you believe infringes your copyright, and how we handle it.
What is our position on copyright?
We respect intellectual property. We respond to notices that comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. 512) and to equivalent notices under other laws.
How do you send a copyright notice?
Use the contact page and choose the topic "Copyright notice". The form then asks for each element below. A notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature, as the owner or a person authorised to act for the owner.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
- Identification of the material on this site you say infringes it, with its URL.
- Your contact information, including an email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act for the owner.
How do you send a counter-notification?
If material you provided was removed and you believe that was a mistake, send a counter-notification through the contact page. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district where we may be found), and that you will accept service from the person who sent the original notice.
We may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after receiving a valid counter-notification, unless the person who sent the notice tells us they have filed a court action.
What if a notice is false?
Under 17 U.S.C. 512(f), a person who knowingly misrepresents that material infringes, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. If you are not sure, take advice before sending a notice.
Do we have a repeat infringer policy?
Yes. The site has no user uploads, so the policy applies to any material contributed to the site by others: we stop accepting material from anyone who repeatedly infringes.
Will the other party see the notice?
We may forward a notice or counter-notification, including the sender's contact details, to the party concerned so they can respond.
